Volleyball Recap: Hartford Comes Up Short

Hartford was the 2-0 winner over De Pere when they last played one another back in September of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Orioles fell just short of the Redbirds by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Grace Burton paced Hartford's offense, picking up six kills. Burton got some help from Lydia Krasselt and her eight assists. Khloe Walling controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

De Pere was led to victory by Morgan Blum and Mallory Derenne. Blum had six digs and three aces, while Derenne had 13 digs and one assist. The dominant performance also gave Blum a new career-high in assists (11).

Hartford has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for De Pere, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Hartford didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Verona on the 13th. As for De Pere, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Union Grove on the 13th.
