Baseball Recap: Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Hope Christian Huskies on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in March.

Jayden Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Valley is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Anthony Chavez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Thomas Velarde, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Hope Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-2 win against Del Norte on the 10th. As for Hope Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-0 victory against West Mesa on the 10th.
