Softball Recap: Linfield Christian's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Linfield Christian proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Ontario Christian Knights 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on five straight.

Celeste Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Sophia Rezkalah was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Charli Calas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Linfield Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ontario Christian only posted a batting average of .160.

Linfield Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Ontario Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Linfield Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
