Volleyball Recap: Sumter Comes Up Short

Sumter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Blythewood Bengals. If the Gamecocks were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Bengals when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 25-9.

Blythewood found their leader in sophomore Fabianne Wood, who had seven digs and three aces. Those three aces set a new season-high mark for Wood.

Sumter now has a losing record of 4-5-2. As for Blythewood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Sumter will host Ridge View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blythewood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Fort Mill on the 17th.
