Last Thursday, South Philadelphia lost to High School of the Future at home by a decisive 49-32 margin.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Sunday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Conrad Science 94-91. The win was all the more spectacular given Benjamin Franklin's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 294th in Pennsylvania, while Conrad Science is ranked 11th in Delaware).
Benjamin Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nazire Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Johnson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Soukare Fane, who scored 23 points.
South Philadelphia's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Benjamin Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for South Philadelphia against Benjamin Franklin in their previous matchup back in January of 2019 as the team secured a 58-28 victory.
