Fort Mill hasn't had much luck against Indian Land recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Fort Mill ended up a good deal behind Northwestern and lost 56-40. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Trojans are ranked fourth).
Fort Mill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jameson Terrell, who picked up 192 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Broden Mitcheson, who gained 149 total yards and three touchdowns. Terrell's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Gray Patterson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Fort Mill didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jeremiah Young and Patterson. Patterson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Indian Land put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed past Clover to the tune of 35-0. The Warriors pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blue Eagles had little chance of recovering from.
Indian Land's win came from a few key players Fort Mill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Matt Kucia, who threw for 300 yards and four TDs while completing 87.1% of his passes. Those 300 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Indian Land's leading receiver Sequel Patterson was Kucia's top target yet again, picking up 128 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Fort Mill's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Indian Land, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Things could have been worse for Fort Mill, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 20-6 loss to Indian Land in their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
