Softball Recap: Blaine Borderites vs. Sehome Mariners

Blaine had lost six games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-11 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Sehome Mariners 14-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Borderites considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Shaylie Daniels made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Daniels was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

Daniels wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mesa Puls, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Puls has posted since back in March. Another was Brie Smith, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for Sehome, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured nine losses in a row.

On Sehome's side, Jacinta Lewis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebekah Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
