Softball Recap: Crosby Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Crosby challenged A&M Consolidated on Friday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 6-5. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Tori Dahnke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooke Henderson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Katie Blackmon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Crosby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Crosby is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for A&M Consolidated, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Crosby beat the Tigers by a score of 10-4 later that day.
