Basketball Recap: Innovation Academy Comes Up Short

Innovation Academy was the 48-42 winner over Prospect Hill Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk took a hard 73-57 fall against Prospect Hill Academy on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the The Red Tailed Hawk have lost by exactly 16 points.

Despite the loss, Innovation Academy still got an impressive performance from Bryce Kankam, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. That was a full 36.8% of Innovation Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Francisco, who scored ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Innovation Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-11. As for Prospect Hill Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Innovation Academy will look to defend their home court on Monday against Cristo Rey at 4:00 p.m. Innovation Academy is facing Cristo Rey at the right time seeing as Cristo Rey is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Prospect Hill Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pioneer Charter School of Science at 5:45 p.m. on February 6th.
