Softball Recap: Peoria Comes Up Short

Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Maricopa Rams, falling 15-3. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 18-0 to the Rams when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Tyler Nevarez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Booth, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Maricopa, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Peoria and Maricopa will both be playing St. Mary's the next time they take the field. Maricopa will head out to face St. Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Peoria will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
