General McLane hasn't had much luck against McDowell recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
General McLane's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Erie as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won six in a row.
Kellen Chelton made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jordan Cannon was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Donny Burke was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
General McLane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Erie only posted an OBP of .278.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times McDowell and Fort LeBoeuf had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Trojans put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 11-5 win on Monday.
McDowell also got a great performance from Jace O'Neill as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Thomas Nies was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Owen Stranko, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and one stolen base.
McDowell's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for General McLane, their win bumped their record up to 12-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. General McLane has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like McDowell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
