Golden West and Porterville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Golden West will venture away from home to take on Porterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Porterville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Golden West, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Golden West was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Whitney, taking the game 9-6. That's two games straight that the Trailblazers have won by exactly three runs.

Ethan Lopez made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Christian Cain was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Porterville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tulare Union.

The win made it two in a row for Golden West and bumps their season record up to 4-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Porterville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Golden West came up short against Porterville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 10-6. Can Golden West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
