Baseball Recap: Buena Comes Up Short

Buena extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 12-7. They came up short against the Egg Harbor Township Eagles, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Chiefs have suffered since April 16th.

As for Egg Harbor Township, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Egg Harbor Township's part, Chip Clooney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Salsbery, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Baxter, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

While Buena had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
