Basketball Game Preview: Millard South Patriots vs. Omaha Central Eagles

Millard South hasn't had much luck against Omaha Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Millard South Patriots will get right back to it and host the Omaha Central Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Millard South strolled past Bellevue East with points to spare, taking the game 75-59. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Millard South found their leader in sophomore Carter Margheim, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds gave Margheim a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bernie Anderson, who posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, Omaha Central earned a 57-50 victory over Omaha North on Wednesday.

Omaha Central's win came from a few key players Millard South will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Evan Rodgers, who had 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lenox Haynes, who put up ten points and three steals.

Omaha Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Millard South, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Millard South hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64 points per game. However, it's not like Omaha Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.3 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Millard South came up short against Omaha Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 59-55. Can Millard South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
