Softball Recap: Charlotte Wins Going Away Against Cape Coral

With a playoff win on the line, Charlotte rose to the challenge on Monday. They put the hurt on the Cape Coral Seahawks with a sharp 11-1 win. The Fightin' Tarpons not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 19-5).

Dava Hoffer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nova Wharton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Halvorsen, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Charlotte and bumps their season record up to 12-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Cape Coral, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-6.

Coming up, Charlotte will square off against North Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Fightin' Tarpons surely won't give up without a fight. Cape Coral does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
