Recap: Franklin Central Flashes vs. Plainfield Quakers
The Franklin Central Flashes waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They secured a 41-36 W over Plainfield. That's another feather in the cap for Franklin Central, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Franklin Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Graves out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Riley Huotari, who scored nine points along with two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Plainfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Payton Benge. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Benge continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Berkeley Williams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Franklin Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Plainfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Central will square off against Noblesville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Noblesville is on a five-game streak of home wins, Franklin Central a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Plainfield will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Mooresville is ranked 24th, while Plainfield is ranked 39th).
