Basketball Game Preview: Elgin Owls vs. Southeast Spartans

The Elgin Owls will head out to challenge the Southeast Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Elgin and five for Southeast.

Elgin heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They took a blow against Carl Albert, falling 70-35. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Titans are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Southeast ended up a good deal behind MacArthur on Saturday and lost 15-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Everything came up roses for Elgin against Southeast in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 67-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elgin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
