Basketball Recap: Bayfield Takes a Loss

Bayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Butternut Midgets, falling 52-29. The Trollers lost against the Midgets in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 62-13 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Bayfield lost, don't look at Stella Gordon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Gordon is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kylie Bildeau was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bayfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Butternut, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.

Bayfield has already played their next contest (against Mercer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Butternut has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Drummond.
