Softball Recap: Decatur Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Decatur never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Kent Island Buccaneers. The victory continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won four in a row.

Madison McGinnis made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Josephine Palmer and Maddie Donoway did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Donoway went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Decatur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in five consecutive games.

Decatur's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kent Island, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
