Football Recap: Riverside Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

If Bowie wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Riverside, they should've done a better job of containing Carlos Rojas III. The Rangers simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Bears 57-13 with plenty of help from Rojas III, who threw for 207 yards and four TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also rushed for 135 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.

Another player making a difference was Derek Armendariz, who gained 170 total yards and two touchdowns. He also put up a rushing touchdown, which was his first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Bowie lost, don't look at Derek Montanez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 102 yards and one score.

The victory (which was Riverside's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games. As for Bowie, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Riverside and Bowie will both be playing San Elizario the next time they take the field. The Rangers will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th, while the Bears will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
