Basketball Recap: Statesboro Find Success

While Statesboro has struggled on the road with four straight losses, that wasn't the case on Friday thanks to Kennedy Myers. The Statesboro Blue Devils walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Portal Panthers thanks in part to Myers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Azziza Flowers, who posted five points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Portal's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of London Blackmon, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards, and Alyssa King, who had eight points and seven rebounds. With that strong performance, Blackmon is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game.

The win got Statesboro back to even at 5-5. As for Portal, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Statesboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-38 loss against Telfair County on the 26th. As for Portal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 37-10 victory against Southeast Bulloch on the 21st.
