Volleyball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Karmen Cyrus and Liomarys Rivera + How To Watch

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the North Johnston Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 last Monday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Smithfield-Selma had strong showings from Liomarys Rivera, who had nine aces, and Karmen Cyrus, who had 19 assists and two aces.

Smithfield-Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Johnston, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coincidentally, Smithfield-Selma and North Johnston will both be playing Fike the next time they take the court. The Spartans will head out to face the Golden Demons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
