Basketball Recap: Cartersville Falls Despite Big Games from Nas Bennett and Kyron Mcclendon

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cartersville can now relate to. They received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 84-70 to the Kell Longhorns. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Longhorns are ranked 18th).

Despite the defeat, Cartersville had strong showings from Kyron McClendon, who went 10-for-16 on his way to 27 points in addition to five assists and three steals, and Nas Bennett, who posted 19 points and five rebounds. The contest was Bennett's third in a row with at least 17 points. Jake Johnson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Cartersville's loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Kell, they pushed their record up to 21-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Cartersville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kell, they will head out on the road to face off against Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Kell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matchups.
