Even if Dos Palos couldn't beat Mendota on Friday, underclassman Chaz Merrell still had a big game. Merrell wasn't messing around, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. The pitching appearance was his fifth straight with seven or more strikeouts.

Coming up, Merrell and Dos Palos will head out on the road to face off against Tranquillity at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
