Soccer Game Preview: Samueli Academy vs. Santiago

The Samueli Academy Firewolves will challenge the Santiago Cavaliers at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Samueli Academy's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Samueli Academy and Cristo Rey Orange County finished up their contest with a 2-2 draw.

Isaac Barriga was the only thing that stood between the Firewolves and a shutout considering he scored both of the Firewolves' goals, bringing his season total up to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Santiago was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. 2026 welcomed they with a 7-0 loss courtesy of Santa Ana Valley. While losing is never fun, Santiago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 856th, while Santa Ana Valley are ranked 99th).

Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 3-9-4. Samueli Academy's draw makes their record 5-4-3 this season.
