Baseball Recap: Centennial Finds Playoff Glory Versus Nogales

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Centennial had no problem doing just that on Monday. They skirted past the Nogales Apaches 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Coyotes also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2015.

William Strand was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Centennial pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Nogales, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 18-9-1 record.

Centennial and Nogales are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Coyotes are taking a road trip to face off against Canyon del Oro on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centennial 3.2, the Dorados 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Nogales, they will welcome Notre Dame Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
