Softball Recap: Calallen Makes It 18 in a Row at Home

Calallen came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Ingleside Mustangs 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jordyn Thibodeaux made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Braelyn Bailey was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brookelynn Meador, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.

Calallen pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ingleside, they moved to 14-7 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calallen will take on King at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. King is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season. As for Ingleside, they will face off against Santa Gertrudis Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Ingleside 3.6, Santa Gertrudis Academy 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
