Recap: Power Center Academy Knights vs. Kirby Cougars
There's no place like home for the Power Center Academy Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road back in December of 2023. They walked away with a 68-57 victory over Kirby on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Nazir Allen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. Allen is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquis Tunstall, who scored nine points along with seven assists and two steals.
Power Center Academy's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30 points. As for Kirby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Power Center Academy will face off against Melrose at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Melrose has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 4-0 during that stretch of close contests. As for Kirby, they will head out on the road to take on Ridgeway at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ridgeway is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
