Recap: Trinity Academy Knights vs. Emporia Spartans
The Trinity Academy Knights lost against the Emporia Spartans back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Trinity Academy took a 57-43 bruising from Emporia. While losing is never fun, Trinity Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Emporia is ranked 54th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Emporia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sheldon Stewart, who scored 15 points along with five assists and four steals. Stewart set a new season high mark in steals with four. The team also got some help courtesy of River Peters, who scored 17 points.
Trinity Academy bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Emporia, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Trinity Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cheney. Emporia will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Shawnee Mission North at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th.
