Soccer Game Preview: Killeen vs. Harker Heights

The Killeen Kangaroos will head out on the road to challenge the Harker Heights Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Killeen's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Killeen is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Copperas Cove on Tuesday. Killeen fell 2-0 to Copperas Cove. While losing is never fun, the Kangaroos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while the Bulldawgs are ranked 179th).

Meanwhile, Harker Heights fell victim to Midway and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Killeen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6-1. As for Harker Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1.

Everything went Killeen's way against Harker Heights in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as Killeen made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Killeen since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
