Basketball Recap: Lukas Stead's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Taylor Allderdice over Moon Area

Taylor Allderdice easily dispatched Brashear last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Taylor Allderdice Dragons fell just short of the Moon Area Tigers by a score of 54-52 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Tigers are ranked 44th).

Taylor Allderdice's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lukas Stead, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Asher Schwartz, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Taylor Allderdice's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Moon Area, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Chartiers Valley the next time they take the court. Moon Area will head out to face Chartiers Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Taylor Allderdice will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on January 26th.
