Basketball Recap: Matthew Hyde's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Spring Hill Christian Academy over Bishop Mclaughlin Catholic

If Spring Hill Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 83-15 takedown of Inverness Christian Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spring Hill Christian Academy Wildcat received a blow on Thursday as they fell 72-58 to the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, the Wildcat can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 218th).

Several Wildcat players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Hyde, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colvin Grob, who scored 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop McLaughlin Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Mekdeci, who put up 24 points. Those 24 points gave Mekdeci a new career-high. Alexavier Dorval-Ferris was another key player, putting up 17 points.

As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 69-52 victory against Hudson on the 13th.
