Softball Recap: Dallas Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Dallas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Berwick Bulldogs on Tuesday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Mountaineers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past NINA BARROUK, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Berwick off the board. BARROUK has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on CAROLYN COMITZ, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of SYDNEY HAYDU, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Dallas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berwick only posted an OBP of .095.

Dallas' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-11.

Looking ahead, Dallas is taking a road trip to take on Valley View at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Mountaineers surely won't give up without a fight. Berwick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
