The Compton Tarbabes will square off against the Lennox Academy Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games Compton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Compton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Whitney. While the Tarbabes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Anthony Jacobo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Erik Vera and Andrew Ruiz did most of the damage at the plate: Vera went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Ruiz went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Ruiz has posted since back in February of 2025. Alexander Lopez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Lennox Academy strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Hawthorne with a sharp 7-1 victory. The seven-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Compton's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lennox Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Compton skirted past Lennox Academy 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Tarbabes repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
