Recap: Rider Raiders vs. Emerson Mavericks
The Rider Raiders and the Emerson Mavericks squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Rider Raiders had to settle for second. They fell 55-42 to the Mavericks. Rider's defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Michael Hawkins was his usual excellent self, throwing for 217 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground for Emerson. Emerson also got help from Kylen Evans who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.
Rider's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Emerson, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Rider does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Emerson is on the road again on Friday and play against Colleyville Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Colleyville Heritage is ranked 60th, while Emerson is ranked 84th).
