Softball Recap: West Lincoln Takes a Loss

West Lincoln was the 12-6 winner over Vicksburg when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. West Lincoln came up short against Vicksburg on Tuesday, falling 7-1. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Lincoln saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Purdy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, West Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

West Lincoln's record now sits at 4-12. As for Vicksburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Lincoln will head out to square off against Amite County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Lincoln is facing Amite County at the right time seeing as Amite County is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Vicksburg, they will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeland has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.13 runs per game on average), something Vicksburg will no doubt try to take advantage of.
