Volleyball Game Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Bartram Trail Bears

The Bishop Moore Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Bartram Trail Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Moore will be strutting in after a victory while Bartram Trail will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Bishop Moore turned things around against Lake Nona on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with a 3-0 win. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Hornets this season.

Bishop Moore not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Lake Nona between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-17, 25-20.

Bishop Moore's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Marc Francis Callejas, who had 17 digs and one assist, and Cole Ferris, who had six digs. That's the most digs Ferris has posted over his last eight matches. Santiago Cano also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Bartram Trail didn't have quite enough to beat St. Augustine on Tuesday and fell 3-2.

Bartram Trail wouldn't go down easily and took St. Augustine into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13.

Bishop Moore's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Bartram Trail, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.

Bishop Moore beat Bartram Trail 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Does Bishop Moore have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bartram Trail turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
