Baseball Game Preview: Chapin Huskies vs. Burges Mustangs

The Chapin Huskies will face off against the Burges Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Chapin and Andress, and Andress kept the tradition alive. The Huskies fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 10-8 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered against the Eagles since April 26, 2022.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Burges and El Paso meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Mustangs came up short against the Tigers, falling 8-2.

Giovanny Leos was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Chapin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Burges, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-2.

Chapin skirted past Burges 16-15 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
