Mount Notre Dame will venture away from home to challenge the Fairfield Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Notre Dame is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Mount Notre Dame barely beat Ursuline Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mount Notre Dame blew past Ursuline Academy 7-1 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but Mount Notre Dame sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Audrey Gildea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She also tossed a walk, marking her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Grace Pitzer was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Savanna Gault, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Mount Notre Dame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Fairfield made easy work of Colerain on Wednesday and carried off a 22-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won nine in a row.

Mount Notre Dame's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Fairfield, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Mount Notre Dame might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Fairfield when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Mount Notre Dame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
