Football Recap: New Lexington Piles Up the Points Against Fairfield Union

It's playoff time, and New Lexington had no trouble coming through when it counted. They claimed a resounding 39-0 win over the Fairfield Union Falcons. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Lexington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyson Spicer, who picked up 180 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Those 180 receiving yards gave Spicer a new career-high. Paul Stenson was another key rusher, rushing for 91 yards and two scores.

New Lexington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in ten consecutive games.

Another reason for the win was New Lexington's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Tanner Toth, Chase Shriner, and Terrelle King, who each picked up one sack apiece. Toth was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

New Lexington's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Fairfield Union, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-5.

New Lexington has already played their next contest, a 47-14 victory against Unioto on the 14th. Fairfield Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
