Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for UMS-Wright Prep

UMS-Wright Prep strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets with a sharp 11-1 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Parker Abston made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Abston was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, UMS-Wright Prep got a big performance out of Marilyn Grace Cook, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ruthie Touchton, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

UMS-Wright Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McGill-Toolen only posted an OBP of .235.

UMS-Wright Prep's record now sits at 3-0. As for McGill-Toolen, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. UMS-Wright Prep will head out to square off against Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McGill-Toolen, they will be taking part in a tournament against Robertsdale at 5:50 p.m. on Friday.
