Softball Recap: Danvers Falcons vs. Beverly Panthers

Danvers fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Beverly on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-7. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 11-6 to the Panthers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kyla Moroney was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Moroney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Addi McCarty was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Briley Keezer, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Danvers now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Beverly, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Danvers will head out to challenge Lowell Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Beverly, they will be playing at home against Masconomet Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
