Basketball Recap: Middletown Comes Up Short

Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Lakota East Thunderhawks 72-39. The Middies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-19.

When it comes to explaining why Middletown lost, don't look at Leila Johnson. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 8 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamia Jones, who posted five points and four blocks.

Lakota East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Sturgill, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Parker Straub, who went 7 for 10 en route to 19 points.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Lakota East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

Middletown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-42 defeat against Hamilton on the 18th. Lakota East has also already played their next matchup, a 54-39 win against Colerain on the 17th.
