Softball Recap: Byron Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Byron came into Tuesday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Lutheran Crusaders on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Lutheran's batters probably weren't too happy with Myla Draheim, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up zero walks). Draheim has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jaidra Poe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gina Baker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Byron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Byron picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-10. As for Lutheran, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Byron will venture away from home to square off against Genoa-Kingston at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cogs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Lutheran, they are taking a road trip to take on Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
