Football Game Preview: Graham Steers vs. Mineral Wells Rams

The Graham Steers are taking a road trip to square off against the Mineral Wells Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Graham knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Mineral Wells likes a good challenge.

Graham's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to Bridgeport for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-0 win. The Steers haven't had any issues with the Bulls recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Jace Gill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 266 yards and three TDs while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 75 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (156.4). A healthy portion of Gill's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Walker Bennett, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Graham didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut MacRae Menard. Caleb Gibson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 49 points the game before, Mineral Wells was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were outmatched by Brock and fell 55-7. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 676th, while the Eagles are ranked 49th).

Mineral Wells has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Graham, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Graham against Mineral Wells when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 37-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Steers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
