League recap: Pinellas Park tops Clearwater to extend winning streak

Pinellas Park added to the longest winning streak in 7A District 9 this week by beating Clearwater, 55-6. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Patriots.

Pinellas Park took down the Tornadoes 55-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Donte Maxson ran for 154 yards and caught 1 pass for 29 yards in the win.

East Lake's dynamic duo of Jake Hudson and Artavis Scott proved to be unstoppable against Countryside, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hudson threw for 129 yards and 1 touchdown and Scott had 92 yards receiving. Dillon Zettweuch helped East Lake's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 37 yards.

Maxson was a passing and rushing force as Kenneth Crawford's team bested Clearwater.

The leading receiver in the league this season is George Campbell. The East Lake star has 12 catches for 334 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Pinellas Park takes on second place East Lake. The Patriots defeated Donnie Abraham's team last week, while the Eagles bested the Cougars.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when East Lake's Campbell goes up against Pinellas Park's Rashaan Watson.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Bob Hudson's team takes on the Patriots. The Eagles have allowed 38 points this season, while Pinellas Park has given up 51. East Lake allowed 3 points last week as it defeated Countryside.

There should be lots of points scored when the Eagles and the Patriots face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, East Lake comes in having scored 327 this season, while Pinellas Park has scored 230. The Eagles scored 47 points last week as they beat Jared Davis' team.

The Patriots led the league in scoring this week by notching 55 points on the Tornadoes. Maxson ran for 154 yards and caught 1 pass for 29 yards during the win.
