Basketball Recap: Bellmont Takes a Loss

Bellmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Heritage Patriots and fell 59-29. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lantae Cassel, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Cassel is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Landon Lybarger was another key player, going 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Bellmont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Heritage, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Bellmont will venture away from home to face off against Garrett at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garrett is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Heritage, they will welcome Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Heritage's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
