Softball Recap: Valencia Comes Up Short

After soaring to 15 runs the game before, Valencia was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They came up short against the West Las Vegas Dons, falling 15-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 19-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Lauren Brandt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Cambria Garley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Valencia now has a losing record of 3-4. As for West Las Vegas, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Valencia Jaguars face off against Piedra Vista Panthers at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday. Valencia's pitchers better be ready for this one: Piedra Vista has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for West Las Vegas, they will face off against Kirtland Central at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
