Softball Recap: Columbia Gets the Win

While Columbia's win against Brazosport wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Columbia narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Brazosport 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Roughnecks have posted since February 21st.

The team relied heavily on Rylea Dent, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Raley, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Dent wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Columbia lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Columbia is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Brazosport and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Coincidentally, Columbia and Brazosport will both be playing Sweeny the next time they take the field. Columbia will host Sweeny at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Brazosport will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
