Softball Recap: Clever Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Clever had won four straight at home, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 21-7 to make it five. They won by a run and slipped past the Forsyth Panthers 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ava Mittag spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izabel Hudak, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Forsyth, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Forsyth's side, they also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in: Lauren Turner gave up three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Lili Roberts made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Haiden Holle was another key player, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Clever nor Forsyth have any future games scheduled.
